We aim to develop the best software possible. In order to do so we know that it has to closely align with a project's business goals.
Over the years we?ve leveraged cost-effective options such as Wordpress. However, as the web design technology landscape evolves, so have we. Realising that despite generally having a lower upfront cost, creating a project with off-the-shelf templates with CMS?s such as Wordpress can be a hindrance in the mid to long term due to the constant maintenance and time consuming updates often required.
So last year we made a shift. Instead of continuing to support lower upfront cost options we decided to focus our development platform that would maximise business and tech value. We chose Craft and October - two very capable open-source options that are leaders in the industry and are based around the idea of building vs manipulating. Instead of manipulating code that comes with an off-the-shelf CMS option such as Wordpress, we?re writing code from the ground up that is specific to each project. The upfront time and cost of building from scratch might be slightly higher, however, the benefits over time are apparent, which is a win for any investment.
